DESIGNER OF STRUCTURAL PAACKAGING

SOUTH EAST

Salary £35-£40K + 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays

Hours: Mon to Thurs – 8.30am till 5pm & Friday – 9am till 3pm

The South East is home to a leading market player in Bespoke, Creative, Printed Packaging. The company works with major high-street retailers as well ecommerce leaders such as Supermarkets, Brands, and Retailers. Their in-house design department allows them to offer this full service.

The company is looking for a Packaging Designer to be part of their Design Team. As the Packaging Design Section Head, you will have the responsibility of leading the Design Department. Your qualities will include enthusiasm, hard work and keenness.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Assume leadership of Packaging Design in the Design department
  • The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, hardworking and keen to learn.
  • Your responsibilities include operating the company’s CAD System with Impact software and a ZUND cart plotter
  • This will allow you to work closely with Product Development on seasonal packaging briefs as well as creating creative and cost effective solutions.
  • This role demands a thorough understanding of CAD.
  • A specific understanding of Impact, Arden, or Artios’ CAD systems is highly beneficial
  • Produce high-quality packaging samples, be they white or full color samples for approval by the brand/retailer.
  • Carton drawings will be required for costing purposes.
  • The role requires a lot administration, therefore IT skills are essential.
  • The Roland Large Format UV-printer will require you to also spend time in the Print Department.
  • The designers will assign you the task of printing mockups for clients. While you’ll receive training in operation and use of the machine, any previous experience is helpful.
  • Our Product Development team will work directly with you on VAP, seasonal and AYR packaging briefs. They’ll help create innovative solutions while keeping them cost-effective to make.
  • It is an important role, especially given the seasonal nature our business. This can sometimes make life very stressful. For this job, it is crucial to pay attention under pressure.
  • A Packaging Designer role requires a high level of accuracy as well as the ability to retain your composure when under pressure.
  • It is essential to think on your feet, and be able to work with minimal briefs.
  • This role requires creativity and forward-thinking.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of CAD, especially Impact, Arden, or Artios
  • Operate a CAD Table for Sample Making
  • Knowledge and usage of the PC
  • Capability to create creative solutions while keeping costs down
  • Great communication skills, both verbally and in team settings
  • A methodical, organised and systematic approach to working at the individual and group level.
  • Clear focus on the right thing first, quality, and accuracy
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • You are willing to learn and be a part of the team.
  • A great team player
